Call of Duty is a First-person Shooter (FPS) video game series published by Activision. Because of being a mighty gaming franchise, Call of Duty is developed by a lot of companies including Infinity Ward and Treyarch, Amaze Entertainment and Gray Matter Interactive Studios etc. More Call of Duty games are expected to be released on the yearly basis with Infinity Ward, Treyarch and other developers inter-changing as producers each year. This has been in effect the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts that release the old system of Treyarch and Infinity Ward interchanging as main developers each year.
Call of Duty Series is responsible for many major trends in advanced gaming, not just trends in FPS but mainstream games in general. The series starts in 2003 with World War II and in 2016, we were shooting it out in space with the title Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. With 2017’s CoD: WWII, the franchise has officially come full circle. To celebrate the journey, we created a list of Call of Duty Games in order according to their importance and how well they hold up today.
Call of Duty
The original Call of Duty video game might not have been the most revolutionary of the CoD series, but it did get various things started that other FPS (first-person shooter) had not promoted yet. The game takes place in WWII and split its single-player campaign among the three main Allied forces of the U.S., Britain and the Soviet Union.
Call of Duty took high-impact sound design, the new level of attention, and lots of new gameplay features including iron sights and limited weapon capacity that bucked shooter trends of its day. The online multiplayer mode was not a major attraction with the first game, it was missing many of the modifications and conventions seen in later titles but it held its own among contemporaries such as Medal of Honor.
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 2 is the second title in the CoD series that introduce enhanced mechanics, environment, controls, and gameplay. The game set during World War II and includes a new mode known as Campaign mode that revolves around four soldiers United States Army, One in Red Army, and Two in the Army of British. It consists of four campaigns that divided into three stories and more than twenty-seven missions.

CoD 2 has two different modes Multiplayer and Story, in both modes the player can assume the roles of an Allied protagonist. The primary objective of the player is to navigate the world using the first-person perspective, gather items and weapons in order to fight against enemies to earn XP points and complete missions. Upgrade character, weapons, and items to survive in a challenging environment. It offers core features such as different Protagonists, the variety of Vehicles and Weapons, Challenging Missions and modes etc.
Call of Duty 3
CoD 3 is the third main game in the marvelous series released Treyarch. It has four different campaigns such as American, British, Canadian, and Polish. In order to get into the world, the player needs to choose his campaign and set out himself to complete a variety of missions.
Unlike previous titles, it also offers an open-world environment and enables the player to freely navigate from the first-person perspective and fulfill missions that contain different tasks, and the player has to input commands including arming a bomb and fighting against enemies etc. Call of Duty 3 also includes prominent features such as Branching Mission Paths, Team-based Multiplayer Modes, New Weapons and much more.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a Military-themed, FPS video game by Infinity Ward. It is the 4th main game in the Call of Duty series and set in the WWII settings. The story of the game starts in the year 2011, where a leader has executed the unnamed country’s president in the Middle East, and the movement of ultranationalist ignites the civil war. The battle takes place in different maps such as Russia, the Middle East, and Azerbaijan etc.

Modern Warfare has six playable characters, and the player can choose one of them to get into the battle where he has a complete variety of missions, in which he must eliminate enemies and save innocents. In this title, the player has a team of the soldier that equipped with lots of weapons to kill enemies and also can use melee combat. With enhanced mechanics, gameplay and graphics, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the best CoD series entry to play for those players who love playing military-based video games.
Call of Duty: World at War
Design using the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War involves the player into the most realistic combats that gamers have ever experienced. The game takes place in the year 1960 and about the first cold war between the superpowers. CoD: Black Ops lets the player assume the rule of a protagonist as a foot soldier who controls and switches between several characters and objectives to carry out a number of Black Ops missions behind the enemy lines, travel to different locations and find out a lost experimental chemical weapon.
